ASTM A517 standard specification for pressure vessel plates, alloy steel, high-strength, quenched and tempered. The steel shall be killed and shall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement of Specification A20/A20M.
ASTM A517 Grade E is a high-strength, quenched and tempered alloy steel plate intended for pressure vessel applications. A517 Grade E is available in thicknesses up to 6.0 inches and has a minimum yield strength of 100 ksi up to 2.5 inches in thickness and 90 ksi for plates greater than 2.5 inches to 6 inches in thickness. ASTM A517 Grade E also has required Charpy V-notch impact property requirements.
